Question using music on iPad 2

I'm a relatively new iPad user but have had an iPhone for quite some time. I synch with my phone on the cloud. My music works fine on my phone but the majority of the music on the iPad shows up but is grayed out and won't play. I appreciate anyone who could help me understand what's going on.

Hi doc...it sounds like you might need to go to your iTunes app/purchased. See if the songs you want to listen to has a cloud icon next to it. If it does, you will need to have wifi in order to get the song from the cloud onto your iPad.
