I updated yesterday and there was no problem. However, my iPad Pro 10.5 inch is now more or less unusable! A few minutes after booting up it is shutting down and then re-booting of its own accord. This happens over and over again. Any ideas please?

Welcome to iPad Forums!

Here are a few things to try:

If possible, update your apps between those boot loops, and make sure time and date are correct.

If that’s not an option:
Try restarting your device, and if that doesn’t help: force start it.

Connect your device to a computer and update it via iTunes (PC) or Finder (Mac).

If that doesn’t work, put it into recovery mode:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Many thanks. I’ll try this tomorrow.
