This just has to be one of the funniest ideas for a game I’ve seen in a long time. Based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2009 spoof Jane Austen mash-up ninjas, zombies and laydees novel of the same name, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a side-scrolling 2D beat ‘em up with 12 levels, terrific graphics and the perfect melding of zombie-slaying action and “touching romance narrativeâ€. Players can upgrade their special attacks while they avoid both the “repulsive undead and deadly repulsive suitorsâ€.
The story follows young Elizabeth Bennet’s quest to find love and zombie brains in Regency England. There’s nothing a genteel English lady such as Elizabeth Bennet hates more than bad manners, and what could be more ill-mannered than the shuffling, rancid undead interrupting your afternoon tea and crumpet party and trying to eat your brains? Nothing, that’s what. It’s just plain rude, and the fiends need to be stopped, hence this most excellent video game in which Elizabeth gives the zombie hordes a right good kicking. I look forward to the sequels, Zombies and Sensibility, Mansfield Zombies and Emma Zombie.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is out now for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch for $2.99/Ă‚ÂŁ1.79.
