Opening an email link

email links are now opening in chrome app whereas up to now they have opened in safari, why as I prefer safari

Just noticed it's when opening links from google inbox app not from native apple email app, looks like something google is up to

Fixed it :- Inbox app > settings > google apps > select safari

Google is probably trying to generate more traffic on Google Chrome.

Just like some of us prefer to go all-in on Apple's apps, for the better integration, other's like to go all-in on Google's stuff. Of course Google likes to encourage this (as does Apple for Apple), so the defaults in each company's apps tend to favor their other apps.

Sometimes there are good reasons for this, and other times it is a matter of strategic lock-in (by both companies).

Apple is actually worse about this than Google. Some of the reasons why are, well, reasonable. Some are purely business decisions (probably).
