Not getting notifications

Searched the forum so if somewhere else sorry. I have the new iPad 64GB Wi-Fi. I use the smart cover from my 2 and it works well. The only problem I see is when the smart cover is on it does not notify me of any messages from games or other apps. As soon I I open the smart cover and the screen comes on they all roll in and notify me. Is this a setting I'm missing or is just the way the new iPad is, as my 2 did not do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you set notifications to show on lock screen? Each notification has this switch setting and might explain your issue.
