Hi Everybody! I just got an iPad a few days ago and I love it! This is my first experience with Mac. I worked with/on PC's for over 30 years. I am having a problem with Safari. I have the latest version update and am having difficulty getting to the internal Safari settings. When I first opened previous version when I initialized the iPad Safari the bar was different. For instance, I can not find a way to change the colors. The button to show the open tabs is not visible any more. Can anybody direct me to a Safari Users' Guide. I've search and searched with no luck. Hope I'm not being too wordy. Thanks much, GAGuy

Hi there and welcome.

There is a free guide on the iBooks store called "iPad User Guide for iOS 5".

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend.......and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. A link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

The Archangel

Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of great people here willing to lend a hand anytime. Often using the Advanced Search box (at the top of every page) will lead you to the answers you're looking for. If not, feel free to post a question in the appropriate area.

Please take a moment to view the information here to get the most out of your iPad as well as our forum:

With regard to your questions about Safari, the only settings that are available can be found in your iPad's Settings App > Safari (left-hand menu). Unfortunately changing colors isn't one of them. There were several changes to the iPad Safari browser with the most recent upgrade, iOS 5. The biggest change was from using thumbnails to tabbed browsing. I think that may be what looks confusing to you. More about Safari's features here:

Apple - iOS 5 - See new features included in iOS 5.

Click on the link above to get the free iPad User Manual, plus there's also the free "iPad User Guide for iOS 5" available through iTunes or your iBooks App. Although there isn't a Safari-specific handbook, here is Apple's iOS 5 User Guide (Safari is Chapter 4, Page 38):

Welcome again and enjoy!

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.
