Hi there,

I'm quite excited to have found this forum and look forward to investigating on here. I've had my iPad 1 for nearly a year now, but am certain I want to upgrade to the gen 2. The improvements address exactly what few complaints I've experienced. Not that I'm overly critical about the iPad as I've loved having it as a toy for the last year. I'm interested to know people's experience of the improved speed, lighter weight and camera capabilities? Also, it looks (from the apple website) like when I buy my 3G iPad 2, I'll be locked into a service plan wit AAPT??

Also, interested to know the best way to sell my iPad 1 (eg do I wipe the drive, what about my Optus sim and all my apps and borders books), and what price I should ask (I'm in Australia).....

A whole lotta questions there for my first post !! Thanks for reading

Cheers
:)

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

One of our member's, twerppoet, suggested this procedure to upgrade and clear your iPad

In iTunes, with your iPad connected, choose you iPad under devices.

Right click on the iPad and do a Backup.

Right click on the iPad and choose Transfer Purchases.

Explore iTunes on the computer and make sure all your media and apps are there.

That will do most of what you need. To be on the safe side, go through any of your apps that store or create documents and make sure you email, or otherwise save them to the computer. Be sure to include the Saved Pictures album in iPhotos.

When you get your new iPad sync it to same account and computer. Right click on the device and choose Restore from Backup. I'm not completely sure of the right sequence in the restore procedure, so you might want to grab the iPad User's Guide. But as long as you did the first part with the old iPad you should bje able to fumble you're way to a complete recovery of all your stuff.

Before you send back your iPad, be sure to Restore it from the main device screen. This will remove all your personal data and set it to the same state you received it in.

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

Welcome to the Forum! This place has answers to pretty much all of your questions, it's great! And the forum community are so friendly!

I am pretty much the same as you, I have had my iPad 1 for almost a year now and an very excited about he prospect of and iPad 2. There are so many reviews on here about the iPad 2 its pretty difficult to not want to have one! The best place to sell your iPad would be online, do a google search about selling your iPad, there will be tonnes of results!
