My ipad Notes question,

Well, you can try hiding the Notes app, other than that, you can't password protect the Notes application, but there is some other Third Party applications that will help you password protect it.
Allen, thanks for the response. Read the rules, no problem there. I am a novice here on teh ipad and apple in general. Is there a way to have the two ipads not connected at all. Mine is for work. If I set up a seperate apple ID I assume they will then not be linked, however, I will not have access to the family itunes, etc. Does this make sense. thanks

And yes I think having a separate Apple ID is the way to go, and yes you will not have access to the Family iTunes, just use your other Apple ID, you want to access that.

You can both have the same Apple ID so that you can share purchases and then have different iCloud accounts so that all other info is separate. Have a look at this link.
