Hello all it's me first post so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. Just bought myself a used ipad 4th generation (very happy with it so far) it takes a sim however it takes an ee sim and I am on the 3 network, how to I make my ipad accept the 3 sim I don't mind if I have to jailbreak it, I have looked on you tube but they all need you to download some rubbish survey filling stuff from the net first, there must be an easy way. Any help is great fully received. Thank you in advance.
P.S. I have updated the software to iOS 7.1

Hi, Granny Smith! Welcome to iPF!

Jailbreaking and unlocking an iPad are two different things.

This thread will explain jailbreaking: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2838-jailbreaking-explained.html
Afaik, it's not possible to jailbreak iOS 7.1 and later. The latest software is 7.1.1.

If your iPad is locked to a carrier, it would be best to contact the carrier and ask for information how to unlock your device, if possible.
I've read somewhere that iPads are unlocked. Supposedly that's not the case when it was bought from a carrier.

If it's not locked, just try to switch the micro SIM card: turn off cellular data, remove the old card, if it's still there and put the new one into the SIM card tray. Then enable cellular data again.

Here's information that you'll need to know: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1970
The last part is important.

Hope that helps.

I have just checked in settings for the carrier settings and it says Three 16.0 does this mean it is on the 3 network ?
And thank you for the welcome letter and I will navigate and read some of these useful links.

The name of the carrier should be visible in the Settings app as well as on the top left of the screen.

Mine is abbreviated. I don't know what yours should look like.

I just checked their website. Their sign is a big "3", and below that you can find "Three". Also, there are links about Three, not 3, so this should be the carrier. 16.0 will be the software version, I suppose.

Btw: you don't have to look in Settings - General - About. My screenshot shows a shorter way to see it: Settings - Carrier. If you see "Three" there, it's the new carrier.
