I can pair the jawbone but the sound still comes from the ipad2 speakers. What's up with this?

iPad supports limited BT profiles. Might want to check whether your Motorola profile is supported:

It pairs fine, however the sounds still comes out uf the speakers instead of the headset.

Pairing and having the supported profiles don't always go hand in hand.

I also have a Jawbone, and while it will pair, it will not work. I can pair the iPad to my iMac too, but since none of the necessary profiles (file transfer, etc) are supported it's a completely useless thing to do.

I haven't heard of any phone style headsets that do work. Music headsets use a different profile, and most of them do work; so I'm told.
