I've been holding out Jailbreaking my first iPad (iPad 3) for the longest time now. I've always used (and JB/Unlocked) the iPhones since the 1st gen phones many moons ago. I just didn't have the time to sit down and actually go through the process of jailbreaking my new iPad (many contributing life factors)....

... anyway... overheard something about this new fangled iOS6 coming out.... so figured I'd better make some time soon to look into things.

I held off updating forever because I figured that would be safest. Turns out I was too damn good at holding off...

My iPad 3 is at it's original shipping firmware version of 5.1 (9B176)...
... every.single.jailbreak I can locate is for 5.1.1. Well, I guess I missed the damn boat by about 2 weeks... because now I can't upgrade to it because Apple stopped signing the requests.

I'm /very/ frustrated that there doesn't appear to be a JB for 5.1 anywhere.

/rant.

BTW, Hi everyone.

There will probably be a jailbreak for iOS 6 within two or three months. It's a pity you only just found us, as it was common knowledge here that a) the jailbreak was available for 5.1.1, and b) that 5.1.1 was a very good version of the OS.

There is no jail break for 5.1, as you have discovered, and there is no update path that will allow any other OS than iOS 6.
