Making sure auto-purchase is off / App Store

And I assume same / similar iOS and iPadOS... how to make sure your device does NOT allow purchases to be made automatically..simply by tapping download on an app?

In Settings / Touch ID & Passcode, I set iTunes and App Store to require my thumbprint, whether the app is free or not.
