Is the iPad Air 2 on the way out.webp

With Apple set to launch new three new iPad models very soon, AppleInsider points today to signs that would appear to indicate that the iPad Air 2 could be on the way out. In particular, the AppleInsider Price Guide shows that some of the more popular iPad Air 2 models are sold out at authorized Apple resellers. This is typically what happens when Apple is about to launch a new model.

On MacMall, the space gray and silver versions of the 32GB Wi-Fi-only iPad Air 2 are both out of stock; elsewhere, B&H has posted that all its LTE 125GB iPad Air 2 models are “no longer available,” which looks very much like they will not be restocked.

As far as buying directly from Apple is concerned, you’d have to wait until February 20th if you wanted to buy silver, gold, or space gray versions of the Wi-Fi-only iPad Air 2. In retail stores, you’ll have to wait until around February 24, in most cases.

Therefore, it is looking very likely that Apple’s expected introduction of a new entry-level 9.7-inch iPad will signal the end of the iPad Air 2’s run.
