iPad2 iCal search malfunction

It is impossible to do a search in iCal on my new iPad2. When i type in a character in the search field iCal terminates immediately.

Does anybody know about this problem?

The best approach is to completely close the app. Double tap the Home button to bring up the multi-task bar. Then press and hold any icon until they all start to jiggle. Then press the top left hand side of the app you want to close. Then press the Home button again to close the multi-task bar. Now try iCal again.

I experience the same problem. Unfortunately your solution doesn't work. I tried shutting the ipad off completely and that didn't solve the problem either. Would you have other suggestions?
(ipad2recently upgraded to ios5)
