Have been having some apps freeze lately, especially news and magazines. Have deleted the Macworld app as it was so frustrating. Downloaded a System Info app but can't figure out what the different memory categories are, ie. wired, active and inactive, and what % each should have. Especially concerned to see free memory is only 7.32% !!!!!

The easiest way to free memory is to double press the home button, this will open the task bar at the bottom of your home screen. Touch and hold any app in this bar until you see the minus sign appear in the top left corner of the apps, you can now remove apps from the memory by touching the minus signs. To finish press the home button once.

Thanks for the reminder. Just did that and free memory rose to 27%! I used to do that process and power down each night. Will resume this and forgo all those ideas of upgrading to a new iPad2 or even an "air"!!!!
