ipad crashed

My ipad2 has locked up. It displays a photo and at the top left it shows the AT&T icon, top center shows time, top right shows the battery icon. None of these are functioning. They show the same readings all the time. The only thing that works is the display dimmer and it gets bright when touched. Any ideas as to how I can get this to work?

Do a hard reset.Hold both sleep and home buttons in together until it switches off and the white apple shows.Release both buttons and wait for it to restart.See if that helps
