iPad Backups

1) If I sync a document such as a PDF or a book to my iPad and do a backup, the backup only contains a pointer to that document and not the document itself. Is this correct? 2) If I create or download a document onto my device, is the document, in full, stored in the backup? It would seem it would have to be or a restore would not work. 3) Does iCloud backup entire documents (created or download to my iPad, and then ones I sync from a PC)? Thanks! Jim
