MacRumors has a great story today for NASCAR fans or fans of motor racing in general. It’s all about ESPN Pit Reporter Dave Burns and how using an iPad helps him in his job of covering Nationwide and Sprint Cup practice, qualifying, and races. Burns says he used to keep copious notes in order to keep track of all the information involved with covering the sport at the sharp end, but now that he has the iPad he uses it to completely digitize his notes. The feature details all the apps that Burns uses on the job, in particular Note Take HD, which costs $4.99, for taking notes, of course, and Simply PDF, which costs $1.99, for storing and downloading stats and the NASCAR Media guide. As Burns often has to work under the glare of a very hot and bright sun, he says that he avoids holding his iPad in direct sunlight for too long to stop it overheating. He also says that he uses the FreeOneHand iPad holder to protect the body of the iPad, and Boxwave’s ClearTouch anti-glare screen protector to cut down the glare. Burns says that he has just recently traded in his original iPad for the iPad 2, and is so pleased with it that he doesn’t even need to take his MacBook Air with him on the road anymore. Great article, well worth a read!
