The moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived - Apple has commercially launched the iPad Air. Apple started sales of the fifth-generation iPad Air a little after midnight Pacific time in the United States. Thanks to the plentiful supply, all iPad Air models show immediate availability for in-store pickup.

Besides Apple’s Online Stores, the iPad Air can be bought from the following carriers (direct links at the end): AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and third-party retailers: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, RadioShack (in-store only). As reported a few days ago, Walmart is selling the iPad Air at $479, a discount of $20 from Apple’s price. Best Buy is expected to price match Walmart's $479 price, as well. While Target hasn’t made anything official, it’s unlikely that the big-box retailer won’t discount the iPad Air with the same $20.

If you buy the iPad Air from Apple’s Online Store in Canada or Europe, you will get the fifth-generation iPad delivered within 24 hours. In Europe, the iPad Air is launching in the following countries Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Are you going to buy the iPad Air this year? And if so, then what version would you prefer?
