iPad 1 freezing after eight or more applications are opened

I have an iPad 1. When I open eight or more applications the ipad freezes (cannot use normally) and there is a voice-over e.g., when I press Safari the iPad says "Safari".

What is making the iPad freeze and the voice-over to occur?

iPad 1 has limited RAM and can't handle having too many apps open. Depends on the apps and sites you're visiting.

If you accidentally turned on VoiceOver, turn it off under Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver
