iOS Update 'Processing File'

I am currently updating my iPad software to iOS 4.2.1. It has downloaded the software and now it says it is 'PROCESSING FILE'. It has been saying this for about a 1/2 hour. How long is this part of the process? Has it taken this long for anyone else?

Hi Laolu and welcome to the forum.
As pointed out, this is a very old thread which has well and truly moved on since the original post regarding the Operating System. If you own the original iPad 1 you won't be able to update beyond iOS 5.1. If you want to upgrade the system your only choice will now be to the latest version iOS 8.1.2.
So, let's close this thread now but please let us know if there was any underlying problem to your question; just ask in a new thread and you'll be surprised at the avalanche of answers forthcoming your way
