Hi
Trying to set up new apple account on ipad 1 for a relative that bought it second hand yesterday. I eventually got wifi etc set up and entered new email address and password, but it keeps saying that the account is not verified. However, when I click "check email" so that I can verify the account it comes up with a "welcome to mail" screen with a list of options for different email providers. If I click Icloud and type in the new apple email address and password, it says it's already set up. Equally, if I come out of that screen and just click on the mail icon it just brings me back to the "welcome to mail" screen.
I've been searching forums and trying different things for about 2 hours and am going mad.
I did successfully set up an existing hotmail account on the ipad but I can't get my head around setting up the icloud account. Please help!

Hi, welcome to iPF!

You can use the same email address for the iCloud account that you used for the Apple ID. All you'd have to do is to enter the address and password. I can't remember where it has to be done on the iPad 1, sorry! On every other device, it's in Settings - iCloud.

To verify the email address:
Open this website: https://appleid.apple.com
Select "Manage your Apple ID". Enter the email address and password and try to verify it from there.

The email account should already be set up in Mail.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your help. I ditched setting up a new apple email address and set up an old hotmail address as the primary apple ID. This seemed to solve the issue. Thanks again!
