how to make ipad work in Italy

I just bought the new ipad with cellular feature. How do I make it work in Italy, and in other European countries? Also, Does it automatically connect to wi fi in hotels? What if I need to use it on the street via a cell phone carrier? Can anyone tell me how this works and what I need to do? Thanks

You will need to go into one of your cell phone companies and sign up for some form of contract and get a sim card to go into your Ipad

Most places (hotels, bars restaurants etc) which have WiFi access have passwords for their network but you just need to ask for it and enter once (your Ipod will remember the password).
