Easy

Just open your File Explorer to where you can see the PDF.
Open iTunes beside it to where you can see Books in the main window.

With your mouse grab one or more PDFs and drag them to the main iTunes window and let go.

Sync to iPad using Sync all books.

I spent the morning trying to crete an ebook on epub

As a devoted user of Kindle I find the iTunes method of getting a book up really IMPOSSIBLE. I'm a writer not a computer person. Kindle is easy. You upload you .doc and presto you have a book.

with epub I had an ebook with random titles, random page breaks, skipped pages.... useless. which means that until iTunes catches up to Kindle in user friendly uploads I will not be able to publish my books with them.

Too bad. I was looking forward to expanding my market.
