How do I update the browser if it won’t connect to the net?

Hi. I have inherited my son’s old IPad. Whilst I am a Windows fan, and IPad would be very handy. The trouble is, it’s quite old and the browser needs updating before it can connect to the net. It has Safari, 64Gb, Model A1219.

Hello and welcome to the forum! From HERE quoted below, you were given the first 2010 iPad which is pretty worthless IMO unless you collect relics - it can run only an ancient iOS and software compatible with that version. But depending on your intentions to use the device, make sure your son followed Apple's Instructions when donating an iPad; also the battery (unless it was replaced) is probably dead or dying - if you really want an iPad, there are plenty of used newer and refurbished models available. Which browser is it? If it’s on an iPad you can update it in the App Store.
