What's new

Hello from a frustrated ipad user

MillieH

iPF Noob
I received my iPad as a retirement gift in August last year and have been using it mainly for internet and games. For most of my life I have used a PC and really didn't think that I would ever find a use for an iPad - until I got one. Now, I am realizing that there is probably a whole lot more I could do with it but really don't know where to start. I have tried creating new "pages" (don't even know if that's what they are called) so that I can have all my games on one page, my grand daughters games on another page, important apps on its own page, etc. Give me a pc and I can make it do just about anything but I am totally baffled with this new gadget and seem all fingers and thumbs when I'm trying to do anything but the basics with it. Forums are usually set up to exchange information and I'm afraid that I have absolutely no information to share at all about the iPad, but I certainly would like to know more about them.

Hello MillieH, welcome to the forum. I am only addressing the need for organizing your apps into discreet 'pages'. You have three ways of organizing your apps on your iPad. There is the home screen, the task bar, and additional pages. I use my home page to install my folders. I use my task bar to allow me to access my frequently used apps, without having to open a folder. I use other pages to install apps that I seldom use. To do all of what I listed, it starts with press your finger on an app...

Choose any app on your home screen and press down on it until it starts to wiggle. You want to put your games in one folder? Press one of the games apps and drag it to another app on top of that app, that you want to include in the folder (BTW, your finger is like a mouse on your PC). You will have created a folder. You can name that folder "mine". Get back to your home screen and do the same for all the apps you want included in that folder. Do the same for all the other apps for your grandchild. Name that folder "yours" (or whatever your want). Drag all the other apps you want to include in that folder. Press home button to complete.

If you want to have separate pages to store your apps, rather than folders. Do the press and hold till it wiggles action on an app. Once it starts wiggling, press it down and drag it over to the right edge of your screen, untill the home page disappears and your are presented with a blank screen. Drag all your apps your apps you want on this page in the same manner. While you are at it, drag your grand daughter's apps with your page so that you can then take those apps to a third page. Press home button when completed.

If you want to put a frequently used app on the task bar that is accessible on all pages, do the wiggle app and drag it down to the bottom of the page to the task bar. Press home button to complete.
