Guitar thru the ipad live

Hi new to the forum. Wondering if anyone uses the ipad to play in a live setting and what gear you use. Or if your thinking about trying it.

I have looked at the irig and I am wondering if anyone ha used it. 40 dollars for a 1/8 to 1/4 step up and solider seems pricey. I could make a radio shack version for under 10. Looking for some players who use the stuff.

I'm also wondering about this.

jam apogee

This product seems more high end but $100 . . . pricey

iRig looked ok. I think the headphone jack on the ipad also has input capabilities if I heard right.

I don't think radio shack could make a thing like iRig because the iRig 1/8 input is both an in and out? Is that possible?

I don't seem how else the iRig thing could work then have the 1/8 input also being an output because there isn't another out on the ipad right?

The Jam USB looks good but maybe could look for other 1/4 to USB converters?

Does Jam meet certain specs that a regular 1/4 to USB converter wouldn't?

thanks

There is a diy site that explains how to make something like the irig The jam with 32pin connection is available end of march. The sound very good from apogee stuff so that might be the way to go

I'm going to get a camera kit with my ipad to plug other usb stuff into it.

So I'm thinking maybe I can get something like the about device to plug into my usb connector on my ipad and mac for that reason.

Any thoughts?

My buddy said his midi keyboard worked well that way.

That's interesting.

I found a few guitar options

iRig and Peavey seem to be the best in my price range.

Anyone tried the peavey and irig?

Which one is better?

I've heard that the Peavey amplink has better sound quality because it has battery's for it's pick up.

Can you tell me why iRig is better without battery's for it's pick up?

Thanks mate.
