Hello, I am a student and I have many files that I like to group in folders and use on my iPAD. For example I like to have a chemistry folder which contains a pdf file, a media file , and page file etc

Is that possible to do on the iPAD?

You could take a look at several file management apps. Two that come immediately to my mind are iFiles ($3.99, USD) and Goodreader ($4.99, USD). Both of them are available at the App Store.

With either, you can create folders and then put whatever type of files you wish into the folder. You can also make sub-folders. Both connect to Dropbox (an online storage) to download or upload, can connect to your computer, can send files between devices, use the "Open In..." function to view your file in another app, access the Photo app on your device, allow you to e-mail your files, etc.

Personally, for what I use it for, I use iFiles. However, Goodreader has been called the "Swiss Army Knife" of apps. And, again, there are many more out there.

Good luck in your decision.

Another feature you may find useful in GoodReader is that it will let you create a link to a file. You can paste this link into other apps that recognize links and use it to open GoodReader to that linked file. If you use this in combination with Evernote or another note app you can create multiple notes with links to the same files, greatly increasing your ability to organize and reference material.

Or you can store most file types in Evernote as attachments. Evernote has lots of search and organization ability. It even has the ability to link one note to another (though not on the iPad app), letting you cross reference notes or create a table of contents note. Since Evernote makes your notes available on just about every platform conceivable, it's pretty versatile.

Caveats: You must have a the premium account ($5/mo or $45/yr) to have offline access to all your notes on mobile devices.

Or, if you seldom or never need offline access you could use DropBox, Box.com or another cloud service to store the files. They also offer flexibility across many platforms.
