My iPad is working ok. When I connect it it my MAC with a cable I get a tone every second on the ipad and the Mac shows the connection oscilating on/off.
I have a second ipad belonging to a deceased relative that is LOCKED but still has some function. It has the same problem.
MY ipad has connected ok in the past and the cable is good.
Any ideas plaese?

Welcome to iPad Forums!

Try connecting your iPad again after each of these steps:
Check the connector and port (maybe on both devices, Mac as well as iPad) for dust or debris. Clean the iPad‘s connector cautiously, with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

If possible, try a different port on the Mac and cable to connect iPad and Mac.

Restart Mac and iPad, make sure both are up to date.

When connecting the iPad to the Mac, keep it unlocked and on the Home screen.

Hope that helps.
