Charging without a display

I have a used iPad 1 3G 64gb I am trying to repair. I replaced the battery in it as well as the logic board. The display didn’t come on. I was told to recharge all night.

I was wondering if I can recharge without the monitor / digitizer attached? Thought it would be easier than putting it fully together.

I am also told that the lcd and digitizer should be ok if not cracked. Could this be the charging port?

Let me know and thanks!

Mike

Have you carefully checked to make sure that you haven’t accidentally damaged any of the connectors while making your repairs?
Thank you for your response.

I don’t think any are damaged. The logic board is new and the 2 connectors going to it seem fine. Do you think the charging port / cable could be suspect?

If you connect the iPad to your computer with the charging cable is it recognized by the computer?

i rechecked all the cables and I believe that is the issue! Turns out the cable that goes from the lcd to the logic board looks like it has some damage on the lcd side. I cleaned up the connector and actually now have a display! I’m getting a new cable to be sure this is dealt with.

I put attached picture of the connector to this message.

I now have another issue with bright white pixels on the display. I think this could be dirt / dust particles between the digitizer glass and lcd. Does this sound right?

Appreciate your help!

I just got my iPad working again after a battery replacement. During the steps to get it back to working I had removed the lcd from the glass digitizer.

now that it’s working I am seeing whites spots on the display.

mid the trapped dirt / dust between the lcd and glass? If I remove the lcd again what can I clean it with and what should I clean the glass with.

mid this isn’t dust, is it a sign that the lcd is going bad?

pit some pictures below for you.

let me know and thanks!!! Thank

The connector certainly has a chunk missing. About the white spots on the display; do they stay in place when you rotate the iPad from landscape to portrait view?

Yes, the seen to stay in the same area as I rotate, though less visible.

I am wondering if there was some moisture in the lcd? I cleaned off the lcd and the glass but still see the white areas.

Do you think this is moisture? Would it help to use heat from a hair dryer? Saw that on YouTube.

I wonder if I should replace the lcd?
