Buying IPad in US to use in UK

I'm going on holiday to US and have thought about buying an IPad there. Is there anything that I should be aware of?

NO PROBLEMS AT ALL - you will only need to get your self a UK power adaptor for the iPad (you can even buy these in the USA Apple Stores) or when you get back home and a UK micro sim.

Shame: I was told by the salesman in the LA Apple store that it was not okay. I did not believe him but could not risk it
