Boss is going to St.Maarten andshe only has WiFi iPad2

Need some help on connectivity options.
Her hotel charges 10 bucks a day for wifi access (56K modem speeds) and after 2 weeks she would be looking at a 140 dollar charge.
She carries a HTC Thunderbolt but i don't know if it is a GSM or strictly CDMA phone.
We may be able to get Verizon to send us a FiveSpot Global WiFi hotspot but i have not heard back from them yet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look at a website called sxmhotspots com for all (at least a lot ;-) wifi spots. I cannot fully spell the website address, because ipadforums does not allow me to...

I do not think your boss should rely on mobile networks, as those offer only gprs. 3G is not available yet on the Dutch side. Maybe on the French side.
