AVCHD on iMovie for iPad 2?

On a Mac, you can edit AVCHD footage in iMovie. iMovie is coming to iPad. Anyone know whether I will be able to edit my AVCHD clips on the iPad?

I am assuming no, because HD footage is such a resource-hog. But it can apparently edit its own HD footage, why not AVCHD too?

Because the processor of iPad 2 is way too weak to do such a job compared to an iMac.
