Apple TV or enough to mirror with AV digital adaptor

To display iPad 2 photos, screen or streaming with sound is it good enough use AV adaptor or holds the more expensive Apple TV more benefits despite higher price and being wireless?

i have both, but apple tv all the way.

i dont wanna be wired with mirror capabilities, i can sit from afar and enjoy.
