Apple Music Could Get a Big Price Drop.JPG

According to a report on AppleInsider today, Apple could be planning a reduction in the subscription fee for its Apple Music streaming service by as soon as the holiday season.

In the original report from Digital Music News, two sources who have been working closely with Apple Music since it was first launched have said that Apple may even cut the subscription fee by as much as 20%.

If this were to be the case, Apple Music plans for one individual would fall to $7.99 per month from $9.99 per month, and family plans would decrease to $12.99 from $14.99. The student pricing would be the same, at $4.99.

It’s possible that these new prices could start in early December, but the source says that although Apple is currently having “serious discussions” about the idea, that’s no guarantee that it will actually go through with it.

With discussions still ongoing, it’s thought that those who sign up for the lower-priced subscription during the promotional period will be able to pay the reduced rate for as long as their membership continues. Existing Apple Music subscribers may even see their payments drop as well if the proposed promotion becomes permanent.
