9to5 Mac reports that Apple has just released a new pair of Beats W1 over-ear headphones, the Beats Studio3, priced at $349.95. These latest models use the W1 chip to enable automatic pairing with iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and boast up to 40 hours of battery life.

Another new feature of the headphones is the addition of “Pure Adaptive Noise Cancelling,” whereby they employ two integrated microphones to listen dynamically to the nearby environment and use algorithms to adjust the degree of noise cancellation as required. As you might expect, this drains the battery a little more, but even with noise cancellation activated you should get around 22 hours battery life, and noise cancellation will be automatically disabled when battery life gets too low.

Beats boasts that its noise cancellation technology is even more advanced than that of main competitors Bose.

As far as design aesthetics go, the new Studio 3 looks similar to the previous versions. However, Apple says that the ear cushions are now much more comfortable.

The Beats Studio3 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones are available to pre-order from Apple now ahead of a shipping date in mid-October. They come in Red, Matte Black, White, Porcelain Rose, Blue, and Shadow Gray versions.

I've had a pair of the older wireless studio beats for a couple of years and have been real happy with them. I'll certainly test a pair of the new ones out.
