Hi there Mike and welcome.
Well it sounds like you know your Apple stuff. I don't think you would have a problem doing the things that you want and with a 10hr battery life I think the iPad would suit you perfectly......but what do I know!
There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.
