Adding mobileme account to activate findmyiphone - verification failed

I have been able to use my appleID to add a mobile me account to my iPad in the past following findmyiphone setup instructions. As I had to do a full restore to factory settings (while did not help my problem), I'd been trying to fix my settings to the way they were. In trying to setup the findmyiphone, I have to add MobileMe to my mail accounts and you should be able to use your appleID. But I keep getting this error saying verification failed. Is anyone else getting this?
