Hi, I have had iPad over 12 months and gmail has been working great, but over the passed few weeks it has started to tell me user name or password incorrect, sometimes. At other times it works just fine. i have rebooted, but get same message on my iPhone. Hubbie also has iPad and gmail and that works correctly. Gmail calendar continues to work.

When I sign in to gmail via browser, it Gives me the following message :

"Additional Verification Step

You're seeing this additional verification step because Google recently detected unusual sign-in attempts for you account — likely from a device or application that you were trying to use. We need to verify that these attempts were indeed initiated by you.

If you were not expecting this step or were asked to complete it via an email or instant message, do not proceed with this verification. Learn more about this additional verification step."

I then press the continue button and I can then use mail on iPad, but only for 10mins.

Any help would be welcome

I can only assumes its a new security feature of Google's. I've not seen that behavior before. Probably because of the way that web pages sees your phone?

Is there a reason why you aren't using the Mail app for your Gmail account on the iPad? I use it, and it makes it much easier than going to the web. Of course, that's me... :)

I am using the mail app, that is what the problem is. It's strange because the calendar app continues to work fine
