Get a screen protector! Army-grade no less. Why? The iPad glass is coated to help it be touch-sensitive. If/when the coating wears off, you lose your investment. I would find the best screen protector out there. The iPad should have come with one.
There's another reason to cover the iPad screen. It has a coating that could, over time, wear off. If/when that happens it will no longer be touch-sensitive. A screen cover is really a necessity.
I have a 3G iPad and I plan to use it as a control surface, faders and all, with Logic Pro 9. Of course there's a hundred other things I'll use it for as well.
One small item of disappointment, there's no way to use "find" in Safari. Maybe in the second generation software update?

Logic Pro control app for iPad
The app is called AC-7 Pro ($9.). I have not purchased it yet so I can't review it yet but I have read some early reports on logic pro help and it sounds promising.
