In order of frequency of use:
Netbook carry-case -- the front pocket takes my power adapter, USB cable, digital camera's USB cable, Blackberry's USB cable, Camera Connection kit and plenty space for other
things like tickets in with the iPad in the main pocket :-)

I still use my iPad 1 as Jones_jt says, it wasn't a big enough jump from 1 to 2. Still not sure about getting the new iPad -- I was pretty sure but then the salesman in PC World said the video wasn't good if you were panning a lot... He siad it can be a bit jumpy. I asked to see what it's like...
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I guess the moderators can move it to where it ought to be?
I use my iPad as a laptop replacement especially on holidays away from home so I had a couple of needs which I have now satisfied :-)
I've had the iPad about a year and a half...

If you're a techie geek like me, then it's probably possible to replace the nano's battery -- I know there's instructions and sources for replacing batteries etc on my even older iPod Mini -- if I had to use public transport on a regular basis I would upgrade the mini's 4Gb hard drive with a 8Gb...
I use Handbrake too on my mac to rip DVDs for playing on my iPad. If you have VLC player on your mac as well then Handbrake finds it and uses it's code for decrypting the DVDs and works seamlessly -- you put it in and after a short time it suggests which DVD "track" you ought to rip -- check...

Money for numbers wasn't a waste - there were things I would have used it for but didn't when I couldn't save in excel format. On reading my post it is a bit biased as Excel couldn't do the task either :-D

There is FLASH available for the iPad the iSwifter App is a flash enabled browser - just download it from the App Store and get over it! FFS!
iPad has flash if you get the iSwifter App from the App Store.
I seriously doubt the iPad 3 getting released this year unless as said by others it isn't the iPad 3 but is released as the iPad Pro but still unlikely.
I only caved in and bought it when I noticed they now let you save as an excel formatted file - when you could only save as Numbers or PDF it was useless as I still haven't installed iWorks (from buying the boxed set when I upgraded to Snow Leopard) on my macMini.
I managed without Numbers for the past year! I just bought it today as I was bored and thought I needed it to do something - it turned out it didn't work for the particular task.
