Phishing Scam - Congrats - $1000 Gift Certificate

I've been fighting this annoying scam for months now. I only see it when using the Facebook App and I click a link to a news story or other page. About 95% of the time it works perfectly, but occasionally several seconds after going to the linked to page the popup appears and offers no way to...

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

Perhaps, but Apple Care also includes three years of Apple tech support for those pesky software related issues. I assume Square Trade is just an insurance plan covering the hardware. If you are already experienced enough to handle any software issues Square Trade may be a better deal. If you...

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

Apple Care is a wise investment, especially for portable devices that take a lot of physical abuse. It covers hardware failures like the screen going half dark - but Apple Care is not an insurance plan. It typically won't cover accidental damage. Apple Care basically adds two additional years to...

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

Costco and Otter Box It must be nice to have a Costco nearby, but there are none within hundreds of miles of me. Looking at the video reviews on Insanely Great Mac's YouTube Channel I see the Otterbox for the iPad 1 was much bulkier and heavier than the version for the iPad 2.

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

The Otterbox stuff looks nice - though a bit expensive. I'll ponder getting one of those. You can see a nice review of it here; wwwinsanelygreatmac's Channel - YouTube

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

Hearing all these awful stories about cracked iPad screens gives me the willies. Even if Apple is replacing them for now, I hope to keep using my $1000 3G 64 GB iPad 2 for many years and would prefer not to break it before it I get tired of using it. Every time I pick it up now I feel like I'm...

I want to hear from all you 3G ipad owners, has it been worth it?

We just returned from a trip up to the St Lawrence, 1000 Islands area in Canada. I brought my Verizon 3G iPad 2 loaded with MotionX GPS. We were able to connect to the Verizon network from within Canada, as long as we didn't go too far from the border. I downloaded maps of the area before we...

I want to hear from all you 3G ipad owners, has it been worth it?

I didn't expect to be using the 3G much, but take my iPad with me when I go out exploring. For instance, this summer we decided to take a driving tour of the Erie Canal in New York state. Printed maps don't show the locations of the locks, but I can find them nicely at home with google earth. I...

US iPad - Travel to Canada

It seems like that will only work for AT&T iPads. My Verizon iPad has no SIM slot.

Cracked the ipad screen, got a free replacement from the apple store

Apple's refurbs are the equivalent to a new product in every way but three. The first is the packaging is marked "refurb", the second is they are a bit less expensive if you are buying them (about $100 less for an iMac), and the third is they have been thououghly tested more then once, so they...

My only Dislike of the Ipad2 is ?

I was disappointed by the camera, however on a resent trip the battery died on my real camera and the iPad saved the day, taking serviceable, if not terrific pix. Still, why not use the iPhone camera in the iPad? Maybe that is being saved for the iPad 3. I suppose my biggest gripe is the fact...

I guess I won't test it after all! Thanks for the warning!

Why no automatic clock on ipad?

Something no one has mentioned on this topic is that starting with IOS 5, the iPad will no longer need to synch to a PC or Mac. You can just buy one and use it without a computer. That would imply there will be some sort of time synching through WiFi on the new OS.

Thanks for that! Now I wonder how that works with the iPad data plan? I guess when I go there I'll test it. Sent from my iPad 2 using iPF

US iPad - Travel to Canada

I should have checked that myself! Thanks for letting me know it's there. I chose Verizon because they seem to have better coverage in my area - though of course I don't need coverage at home - duh!
