    OK, I'll try all this if we decide to replace it. It seems like the battery is dying...it takes forever for it to recharge and I'm assuming that either the battery cannot be replaced or it would cost nearly as much to do as it would to replace the pad. Thanks a lot for all your help.

    Thanks Dave. Looks like a 3rd gen (model A1403) with 16gig and OS 9.3.5. We do cloud backups. I just didn't think that these backups backup everything.

    Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try the update. As for the other stuff...I believe that all of the music came from iTunes. To be honest, I think this whole Apple system for getting music onto an ipad is bizarre...synching to computer,etc. Didn't know it was possible to just download straight...

    At random times, all of the music stored on my ipad 3 retina display disappears. No warning. OS 8.0.2. I know it's old but the upgrade to this version was a nightmare so I'm hesitant.

    Thanks. From what I gather, my problem is logging both devices onto the same icloud account because photo stream and auto photo to icloud are on for both the phone and pad. That airphoto looks like it might be the trick.

    Can't get out of "square" format in camera function

    I tried, for the first time, the square format in the camera function and now can't shut it off. I've repeatedly tapped the other format functions and tried powering off to no avail. Am I missing something or do I have a problem? This square function is not even mentioned in the owner's manual.
