Couple of scary lines in there.

The Apple published procedures for 2002 and 1604 have not helped.

If you're stuck in DFU mode you can download Recboot v1.3. My iPad was stuck aswell yesterday, but I fixed it with Recboot.

Reinstall iTunes yet?

I say this based on this line:
2010-10-11 00:17:35.888 [1832:b64]: unable to open device_map.txt: No such file or directory

Sounds like your iTunes install is borked.

It could be borked but I tried it in both a 32-bit Vista partition and a 64-bit Win 7 partition, and then wiped the Win 7 partition, re-installed it and it still won't work.

Thank you for taking the time to look at the log. :)

I wonder if somebody on eBay would buy an iPad that's obviously stuck. Maybe I can get a couple hundred for it.

I would take it into the Apple store before I sold it. Maybe they can kick it out of DFU mode!

The iPhone wiki suggests this for getting out of DFU mode:

"Exiting DFU

While in DFU, hold the power and home buttons for 30-60 seconds. When I have tested it, it has varied, so I don't know an exact length of time to hold it. Note that sometimes if you do this, when the device reboots from DFU, it will go into recovery mode for unknown reasons."

Manually get out of DFU (Device Fail Utility) you must do the following.

1. Simultaneously press and hold down the Home and Power buttons for 13 sec.

2. Now immediately release the Home button while continuing to press down the Power button for an additional 3 sec then release the Power button.

FYI, As timing is the key to get into DFU Mode, time is also the key to getting out of it.

I do this all the time.

I swear that I've done this ten million times before (okay, minor exaggeration, maybe), but it worked this time, sitting here with a clock and watching the seconds.

:)

Thank you.

I have learned my lesson, and will wait for the release of iOS 4.2 and Shatter/Greenpoison before trying to do this again.
