Question: I'm using the Safari browser on my iPad, at some moment I really like a web-site and I want to convert it into a PDF file so that I can stored it and/or send it to somebody else. How is this possible from the iPad? Any ideas?

I don't want to send the URL because with dynamic pages the content of the site is not always the same anymore. I want to have a identical copy of the web-site into a PDF file.

Thanks.

Could be an alternative, but then I do not have the entire web-page. Only the part that is visible on the screen. So it is not ideal.

And how can I make a screen dump?

Hold down the Home button and then the Sleep/Wake button (in that order!) and you will hear a sound like a camera shutter and that will save the screen shot in a folder called Saved Photod in your Photos app.

Once its there, you can tap the icon between Slideshow and the trashcan and you can email it, but you have to set up an email account on your iPad first!

Some web pages you can COPY and paste it into a normal iPad email. If you have the right kind of web page the graphics go into the email too.

If that doesn't work try pasting it into Gmail using the web interface.

It will not work pasting into PAGES.

If you have a MAC and OS X just PRINT the web page to a PDF.

Send the web page to EVERNOTE.

I use an App called WebToolBox+ which saves a webpage to a pdf file and displays it in safari. Then I go to the http address line and insert a g in front of http and the PDF file is opened in goodreader.

Well that sounds like a good solution.

Checking the web-site for all the features is a problem at the moment _http://www.tapfactoryapps.com/WebToolbox, the web-site specifying the features of the app is NOT up and running. I guess I simply have to buy it and see if it is working.

Still down.
I checked with the app store. There are 2 web toolbox apps. One with 60 and one with 70 + tools. I bought the 60+. Universal I think, and the 70+ seems to be for iPod und iPhone.

I am new to the iPad and purchased GoodReader app. I do not have WebToolBox. I simply followed the advice above inserting a g in front of the http address of the Safari or Firefox page that I wanted to save and then hit "go" on the iPad keyboard. GoodReader automatically opens. GoodReader has many capabilities and I need to see if they have a manual online to download, since it solves a lot of the issues I have with saving webpages, other files into folders, etc.

Sorry folks!!!! I am sooooo embarrassed. It only works if you are online. The moment you go offline, the file is no longer there. So - no, it doesn't do what I was hoping it would i.e. save web pages to pdf for future reference. Still looking........

Let me just mention 2 things.
1. There is a web site - not a PDF doc - which you want to save as a PDF file, then you could use webtoolbox. This tool generates a PDF file out of a HTML or so file. This generated PDF file is displayed in your browser. To download it to your iPad use the tiny g in front of http and goodreader will save it to your goodreader "My Documents".

2. You already see a PDF file in your browser then again you could use the tiny g routine and the file is under my docs.

Of course, once you have the PDF file in your my docs folder the file is still there whether you are on or offline.

Hope this helps.
