LTE iPad owners will be happy to know that extensions of LTE coverage are happening all over the U.S. and Canada as we speak. Verizon for example has just made the announcement that their LTE market will be spread to cover Georgia and New York. And if Verizon isn’t sleeping, AT&T is not either. The carrier has boosted coverage as well and now includes Florida, Texas and New York.

Canadians are playing catch up as well, because as it turns out LTE is quite popular north of the American border. A recent blog post from top Canadian carrier Rogers brings good news to interested customers announcing that by the end of 2012, 4G LTE coverage will spread over 35 new markets. The first network started functioning in Ottawa on July the 7th 2011. When the new networks will start functioning, more than 60% of Canadians will enjoy being part of the LTE family.

Rogers had to spend a whopping $2.2 billion to get the networks moving, but seeing the major interest Canadians have for LTE connectivity the carrier should get back its money guaranteed. So far, Rogers LTE networks are available in Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, St. John’s, Toronto and Vancouver. By 2013 Rogers will add: Abbotsford, Ajax, Burlington, Cambridge, London, Oakville, Pickering, Regina, Windsor, Winnipeg to quote a few.
