According to a fresh report coming from South Korean publication Maeil Business Newspaper, Samsung has reportedly nabbed 75% of Apple's next-gen 'A9' SoC orders. So, if we are to believe this report, no matter how much Apple wouldn't want to reduce its dependency on Samsung, the company seems to be the single one able to responsibly manufacture on its own the chips for the future iPhones and iPads.

The publication says Samsung's factory from Austin, Texas will handle a 75 percent slice of orders for Apple's upcoming System-on-Chip, which is expected to be dubbed "A9".

Apple could be using Samsung's advanced 14-nanometer FinFET fabrication process, according to sources. Before the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch, Samsung was responsible for fabricating all A-series chips, but Apple has decided to partner with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. for a part of its A8 production.

The reason for diversification seems to be the preparation for unexpected slowdowns like low yield rates. It will be interesting to observe whether Apple will maintain its diversification strategy or it will choose to place more orders with Samsung.
