It looks better. After looking at the leaves, I think it's a young maple tree.
My same thought and appropriate for your locale - When we were in the Blue Ridge Mountains last week, the trees were starting to turn color, especially at higher levels like Grandfather Mountain; also walking around the lake at the Chetola Resort, a half dozen trees already had turned red - all maples. We have several hundred thousand elm trees lining our streets and they rarely show colours other than various shades of yellow. This makes trees such as maples really stand out.
My iPad's 'Lock Screen' wallpaper - a web pic of the Linn Cove Viaduct in the fall w/ a glorious assortment of colors - the actual image follows - on our recent trip, we went over the viaduct a half dozen times (located at the base of Grandfather Mountain) but the colors were just beginning to change - should be beautiful in a few weeks. President's Cup - Liberty National Golf Course - NYC Harbor/Manhattan
This weekend the President's Cup is being held in New Jersey USA at the Liberty National Golf Club - a remarkable golf course built over an upper NJ landfill in view of Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty w/ the skyline of Manhattan in the background w/ the new One World Trade Center (see quote below from link) - now watching the first day - if interested, check the first link above for the format of this biennial tournament that is match play between a dozen American golfers and non-European players from multiple continents. Pics below show the players for 2017 (the International Team includes golfers from Asia, Australia/NZ, South America, & South Africa). Dave

President's Cup - United States Wins Over the Internationals, 19 to 11!
Just a follow-up on the ending of the biennial President's Cup (United States vs. International, i.e. non-Europeans which is the biennial Ryder Cup, golfers). The United States was dominant the first three days amassing a leading score of 14 1/2 to 3 1/2 (takes 15 1/2 to win the event) - then on Sunday's 'single matches' w/ 12 points at stake, the Internationals did quite well w/ 7 1/2 vs. 4 1/2 - final results shown below - I have the 4th round taped and still watching today.
Of course, only golfers (or enthusiasts) might be interested but the course's beauty and proximity to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Manhattan skyline w/ the new One World Trade Center are special - we've not been to NYC in about 10 years or so and are thinking of a trip next spring (a replacement for our usual Florida vacation that time of the year); if so, will definitely go to the Trade Center and take the ride up to the Observation Deck.
