How to turn on iPad 6am and off 11pm?

After a few exciting moments with my new iPad2,64,3G I decided to buy a low cost second hand iPad1,16 to be used just as a Photo Frame streaming pictures from my NAS (QNAP TS239).

Now what I need is to turn on the thing in the morning - and put it to sleep in the night. I can find no photo frame apps that can do the trick.

Any ideas??

No photoapp will let the iPad turn on/off at a specific time. As iOS is too restrictive to allow that.

If you jailbreak the iPad, you could use Activator to assign certain gestures for a Power Down, but there seems to be no option to turn the iPad on at a certain time.

Sorry to intrude but I am in a bit of a predicament. I am new to IPF and while I enjoy reading everything I would like to ask questions as well. Unfortunately I am not being able to create new threads, can somebody tell me why or how to go about it.

If you have a specific problem, then you can either post a question or use the Search button near the top of the Forum web page.

If you want to post a problem, you’ll probably want to either append your question to an existing thread if your problem is related to the topic being discussed in that thread, or start a new discussion (thread). To do that, you need to navigate back to the ‘iPad Forum’ page (button near the top of the Forum web page), then choose a discussion area that you think most suits the problem you want to discuss - say ‘iPad DiY’, click to enter that area and then you’ll see a button ‘Start New Thread’. You can click on that and enter a title for your thread and the usual text box where you can type the details of your problem.

It makes sense to use a thread title that’s as descriptive as possible. So I wouldn’t call a thread ‘I have a problem’ because no one scanning through the thread will know what the problem is or whether they can help and, since there are so many posts made each day, no one has time to read them all.

So, instead, make the title of the thread as specific as possible - ‘iPad screen goes blank every 5 seconds’, for example would be better (though not as good as it could be, I have to admit) and then give as much detail of the problem as you can.

But don’t be afraid to post - all the Forum members are really nice and the Moderators keep them under control and make sure they’re well behaved and polite - well, most of the time!!

But just enjoy your iPad. Like any new product, they'll be 'issues' that will arise - first piece of advice, don't panic and don't do anything rash. I've read of people who have restored their iPads - generally a last resort - when the problem was far far simpler.

There is actually a JB app (paid) which will turn the device on and off as per a schedule, amongst other things. It is called iScheduler. It is an iPhone App, but works on the iPad too. You can easily set a time to turn the iPad on and off and it does the rest. I have found it to be very reliable over the years, although I must admit, I no longer need to use it for various reasons.

It comes with a free trial, so I suggest you try it out and see...

Wow thanks Tim. I managed to figure out how to start a new thread too and the other stuff was very comforting as well..... Everyone here is so nice. I think I am gonna like this place very much. I find myself logging on more and more in the last couple of days )

Wow iScheduler was what I was dreaming of! Further more you can launch your favorite Photo Frame app shortly after the power on. Works perfectly
