A colleague of mine, who also flies light aircraft as a hobby, had a mid-air engine failure. He went through the usual emergency procedures and called ATC (Air Traffic Control) with his 'May Day' call, quoting his position from the GPS readout - as I did just now. There was a delay in the response from ATC and then a sheepish voice came over the radio - "Yes - but where is that?"

Tim
footnote - he landed safely in a field with no damage to the plane or himself.

While on our first aerial flight over our island the pilot radioed a message.
This is (call sign) I have 2 passengers ,leaving pekoe airport for a 30min;flight Blah blah blah.....

We were very impressed with the order and efficiency.
The pilot smiled and said there is no one on the other end.
Just hope the answering service tape has not run out.

Apparently there is no one to notify ,but he leaves a message in case no one sees us for several days!!!
On the same flight told us to let him know if any dogs runout while we were approaching the runway for a landing.
He also told my hubby not to lean on the door as the handle was broken.
On looking closely it was tied closed with hay band.
Best flight ever.
That's what we call flying by the seat of your pants.
